Somebody to Love

2/13/14
Song: Somebody to Love <3 <3 <3

Ethics:
noun:
Moral principles that govern a person's or group's behavior.

Example: Psychologist have to be careful when designing experiments using humans so they do not violate ethics by causing the people serious mental or physical harm.

Topic: Why might an intelligence-altering

operation be unethical or risky? Explain

People all around the world want to be smart and clever to be successful. In order to be successful, you need to work hard. Charlie was a very smart individual even before he received the operation. He was eager to learn and worked as hard as he could to become smarter. Dr. Strauss states, " Look at how well hes learned to read and write for his low mental age"(Keyes 225). When someone works hard to have a great future and others use a shortcut, it is not only unfair to the individual, but those that work hard to achieve success.

Journal topic: What are you most looking forward to finding out as you continue to read Flowers for Algernon?
“The path I choose through the maze makes me what I am. I am not only a thing, but also a way of being--one of many ways--and knowing the paths I have followed and the ones left to take will help me understand what I am becoming.” - Daniel Keyes, Flowers for Algernon
